You can chose the coverage in replacement cost basis or an actual cash value basis. In replacement cost basis, AIG will pay for the actual cost for labour and material to rebuild or repair of your house base on the similar material that fix in your house. You will not getting any cash compensation, but you will get the structure that damaged repair to 100% as before without paying a single cent up to the coverage limit that stated in your insurance policy. If you chose actual cash value basis, you will get in cash compensation that the value will be equal for repair or replace of your home components minus off any depreciation. So, which option will be better? I will say that replacement cost basis will be better since you no need to do anything.. just wait for the damaged part to be fix.
